Nine Cups is a dynamic writing community based on a core set of overarching values.
Â
Strong focus on learning, action and growth:Â
- Incomparable learning design - with over twenty years of experience in classroom and online learning, each course is created to ensure that firm and achievable learning outcomes are met. These are communicated to learners prior to purchase. However, you won’t find the old traditional methods of teaching writing (such as revering dead old white men and intimidating everyone else). At Nine Cups we are values driven and teach from the heart, not just the head. So writers learn from the heart, not just the head.Â
- Action - You don’t need us to help you procrastinate. Learning is fantastic, but doing is better. We ensure that each deliverable will help you produce new work or improve existing work to guide you towards publication (if that’s what you seek). We’d also love to hear your success stories.
- Empowerment - All learners will feel empowered and accomplished by the deliverables they create. Any creative work shared in classes will be treated with respect.Â
- Authenticity - We encourage all learners to tap into a place of authenticity to create their best work. Authenticity is the key to great writing and great learning. Wisdom - This is more than knowledge. Wisdom is a heart-truth, that when shared, benefits everyone. Sharing wisdom and life experience is a gracious, powerful and expansive act and will always be valued in our classes. Â
- Imagination & Experimentation - When did we forget to play? Imagination is not just for children. All courses strive to embrace intellectual curiosity, play and action. We encourage learners to push their creative boundaries to see where that takes them.
Â
Organisational integrity:Â
Integrity - Everything we share is created by writers and experienced writing teachers. We will never serve up a course created by AI, or downloaded from someone else or outsourced to someone who is inexperienced. We will never release anything that doesn’t meet our standards and values. If there is something that you find lacking, please contact us.
Inclusive - A creative pathway should be accessible to everyone. If you find our services lacking in any way, please let us know. Racist, sexist and ableist behaviour will not be tolerated within any of our classes.Â
Financially Ethical conduct - our teachers are paid a fair and livable wage for the service they provide based. This is reflected in the pricing. Marketing will not be based on scarcity or exclusivity.Â
Each course, blog post, social media post has these values at heart. Please contact us if you would like to raise any concerns or provide feedback.
